for AD using sAMAccountName (with dot), but no success. I've
configured UID_ATTR=sAMAccountName, all the other configuration is
same as for version 1.3 (LDAP worked fine using cn).

privileges and no account created for him. I suppose an account is

You should definitely never use a SNAPSHOT in production.
The current Long Term Support branch is 8.4.x (current version being 8.4.4).
