*Job Description*

This is a Microsoft SQL Server DBA role largely responsible for providing
operational database services to the organization. Some of the primary
responsibilities of this role include owning, tracking and resolving
database related incidents and requests within SLAs, reviewing service
related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a
daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved
within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and
escalations and working with database developers to come up with strategic
solutions to recurring problems.
This SQL Server DBA role requires a service oriented mentality and a high
sense of ownership of all issues, incidents, and projects. It requires
establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to
keep them updated with the status of their requests, initiating and
performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any
issues.
This is a leadership role that includes the management of other SQL
Database Administrators. It requires excellent written and verbal
communication skills, and a keen ability to work both individually and on a
team, while providing leadership and direction to others. On-call
Production Support (24x7) is also expected.


*Skill/Experience/Education *
*Mandatory:*
• Experience with Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization using native monitoring
and troubleshooting tools
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• Experience with Integration Services, Analysis Services, and Reporting
Services
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options
for SQL Server
• Knowledge of audit processes used for in internal and external audits
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
• Ability to advise application development teams on database design,
security, query optimization, and performance
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory,
Failover Clustering and proper disk configurations
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

*Desired:*
• Strong SQL development skills, with the ability to write and troubleshoot
advanced SQL code (stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers)
• Knowledge of Windows and substantial experiencing in troubleshooting CPU,
memory, and I/O issues at the OS level
• Experience with supporting large SQL database systems
• Experience with Microsoft SCOM
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and developing Microsoft
Orchestrator runbooks
