The Senior Data Quality position is a catalyst for continuous improvement and cost reduction that leads to improving the business value of data quality practices. *Primary (P) or Secondary (S)* *Key Responsibilities: *What are the main responsibilities of the job. Indicate which are primary (essential to the job) and which are secondary (not essential to the job). *% of Time Spent:* *P* *A. *Data Quality *70%* *S* *B. *Data Governance *30%* Key Responsibilities: *Leadership* · Assist in defining the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, and policies for data and information quality · Assist in formulating and conducting awareness forums, both formal and informal · Formulate plans for establishing and operating a data quality practice · Facilitate and document meetings with stewards, stakeholders, development teams · Prepare formal reports and presentations of findings and recommendations. *Prevention* · Propose practices that will prevent data quality and data governance problems · Coordinate the prioritization and implementation of data governance improvement initiatives · Work to include data quality prevention techniques and methods into the SDLC and business process engineering methods. *Assessment* · Conduct audits of data quality using sound sampling and statistical estimation techniques · Conduct profiling of data sets to ascertain and validate data domains and relationships · Assess the business value of data in accordance with an approved framework · Conduct data quality assessments and derive metrics for the data elements of most business value. § Assess and provide metrics of the data quality characteristics of validity, integrity, accuracy, completeness, timeliness control, availability, relevance, usefulness, accessibility, and definition § Assess and provide metrics of metadata quality characteristics of definition, domain, logical- physical integrity and consistency, data type, change management, lineage, exception documentation, usability restrictions, etc. § Assess and measure the process capability to capture and maintain the quality of data throughout all business and system processes. · Determine business requirements for the above metrics and work with business stewards to determine improvement initiatives · Evaluate the data lineage capabilities of business processes and automated applications to determine adequacy and ability to find root causes of data quality problems. · Identify the perceived versus real data quality issues and assure explanation of perceived problems to all stakeholders *Improvement* · Discover, document, and analyze data collection and data transformation processes to determine the cause of systematic errors or data quality qualify improvement opportunities · Upon finding root causes of errors, propose solution or options for correction and prevention. · Provide a framework for determining the priority of data quality correction activities · Coordinate data correction processes. · Assure that the change management process is used appropriately for both correction and preventions and that data quality problems do not recur. Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies: (Define the knowledge and skills required to demonstrate proficiency/competency in the job.) *Experience* A combined 12+ years of experience in three or more of the following areas is required: · quality control in a manufacturing environment · Data Governance · business process analysis, design, and improvement · statistical analysis and tool expertise · large and complex information systems · data quality specialization · data management *Requirements:* · strong analytic, problem solving, and conceptual thinking skills · strong statistics knowledge, application, and tool use · strong understanding of Data Governance functions · understanding of data management principles · understanding of relational and dimensional databases · demonstrated ability to communicate with numerous functional, technical and operational stakeholders as a reliable, respectful and responsible partner · effective and clear verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills · ability to negotiate alternatives, facilitate acceptance and set expectations with stakeholders · attention to detail and accuracy with business value focus · ability to understand the’ big picture’ view and impact technology has on business processes. · solid working knowledge of core business functions such as: marketing, sales, customer relationship management, order fulfillment, product and production management, product and service provisioning, financial management, compliance, auditing, quality management, data management, business intelligence, and information technology · skills in Data Profiling tools ( IDQ preferred) · strong PC skills, including MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio *Differentiating Skills and Accomplishments* · work with executives in promoting quality as a strategic business imperative · work with Data Governance and Data Stewardship · experience in the use of control charts for visualization and management of process quality · success in implementing six sigma · success in implementing a data quality practice in a large company · experience is relating compliance and quality initiatives · experience with automated systems that require full history and traceability, and in articulating the quality impact of these features · experience implementing quality management for data warehouses Leadership: (Define the extent to which the role is required to lead others, processes or programs) Ø The role does not manage others directly, but does mentor junior team members.
