Can somebody answer a question for me? 
Why do some people react in such an unexpectedly positive way to change, while others 
are more tempted to rally behind some makeshift martyr against obvious progress?

Which in a quick translation means: 
In many cases, the (otherwise) Euro-skeptic Germans wanted to get rid of their 
precious national symbol, the Mark. At the Frankfurter Volksbank they say that: 
"People come in, shake the contents of their wallet on the counter and say: I want 
Euro!"
