However, WHO CARES?! haha.. Meter vs Metre....Celsius vs Centigrade. Either of them are better than Feet and inches. :) If the US used Meter and Centigrade, I'd be happy as a clam, because at that point, it's just terminology.

Note that while there is no harm in airing these topics here, I would caution against writing to bodies like NIST complaining about metre vs meter, centigrate vs celsius or even worse kelvin vs kelvins. This only makes us look like nitpickers and cranks, and I would strongly suggest such representations would be better focussed on replacing colonial usage with metric.
