How about a Megon?

"Micron" was so widely accepted and used that I checked. It was once acceptable to CGPM (ca 1948) and is listed in the history section of the SI Brochure, Resolution 7. It was later deprecated as a bad practice. There is no nanon in Resolution 7. The micron was abrogated by amendment of Resolution 7 in 1968, when the symbol was declared to be ONLY a prefix and not a unit when used alone. It is a bit unfair to call it "jargon" as it was a "formerly blessed unit." If anyone other than this unnamed reporter uses nanon, it would be fair to call it jargon. What is next, a picon? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Pat Naughtin <pat.naugh...@metricationmatters.com> To: U.S. Metric Association <usma@colostate.edu> Sent: Wed, August 4, 2010 10:24:54 PM Subject: [USMA:48325] Re: A Nanon? Dear John, It seems that the Nanon is a relative of the micron. As you know a micron is a jargon word widely used in engineering and in the wool trade usually with a destructive effect on any meaningful communication.
