Current observations are for the nearest airport.  The point forecast uses that 
airport and a ring of airports that will surround your location and they 
"interpolate" from the forecasts at those airports.  They do not include 
results 
from personal weather stations.

Jim (Frysinger):  I don't know about that "point" forecasting by the NWS. When 
I 
input my ZIP code, I got figures for an airport in a different city, at least 5 
km away.  Weather Underground, on the other hand, reports data for five 
locations in my actual city, all of which are closer to the airport, one of 
which is only 1 km away.
