I don't like hardware that fails. I build my machines and my hardware
doesn't fail. And if it is for my wife, I would not compromise, I would
give her the very best.
Sure, you could buy a Hell with a warranty, but it's not worth it to me.

If you don't like Dell, then I would recommend HP, although my
experience has been 6's with both, they both have their pros and cons,
but I've only worked on their enterprise (not consumer) level products.

If you want the ultimate in quite, they do make fanless power supplies up to
about 350 Watts. Though, they are pretty expensive.
