You don't need to delete it at all, try to open it in an Editor which
is able to display XML and delete the lines with the missing entries.
Or maybe create the missing file again (with no important content) and
try to delete it in the Manager Interface.

simply deactivate it...
I will try this in a Virtual Machine, as soon Time permits...
Because now the Host ist Linux and it won't break again to an unusable
state of the System :-)

As a workaround, maybe - but normally the VirtualBox has a Snapshot
Function builtin, this should be able to save a Snapshot of the System
in any State, which can be used for a new Machine...

Did you shut down the Machine (not only suspend)?
You should be able to read the File, otherwise check out ls -la
filename for suitable rights - but thats not the Problem here!
I read that the State of the File is the Problem.

Hardisk .vdi File from one Host - regardless of the Snapshots taken.

Machine2/Harddisk - i tried to copy Harddisk to Harddisk.
I even edited the virtualbox.xml and tried to make the Machine think
it has another Harddrive.
