Hi,

If I try to run Windows 7 and another Linux 2.6 OS, both with AMD-V
enabled in the Advanced options, eventually at some point I lose mouse
focus (the mouse cursor hangs inside the Linux VM, keyboard becomes
unresponsive).

The rest of the system keeps "working" (host is Linux, Fedora 10 with
latest patches), as I can see the GMail window in the background being
updated with new emails in the inbox, but evetything slows to a crawl
until a point where Gmail starts displaying the "cannot connect to
server". I tried to connect over SSH from another system in my home
LAN and SSH disconects with ¨signal 9¨ whatever that means.

Then my hanged system appears to be in a complete lockup so only a
power reset can bring it back.

Any ideas of what might be going on?. I´m pretty sure my Opteron 2216
supports AMD-V but not so sure (I guess not) about Nested Paging.
Although I have nested paging disabled.

The two instances when this "hard lockup-mouse freezing" incident
happened, I was running a version of 32-bit Vista+ windows OS
alongside a Linux 2.6 VM.

The first instance it was Win7 beta alongside Fedora Core 9 in another VM

The second instance (today) it was Windows Vista Starter Ed. and gOS 3.1 Linux.

I never experienced this kind of hard lockup when running two
instances of Windows concurrently (say, XP64 and Win7).

My CPU is a very early OEM release of the 2216, and perhaps amd-v
microcode wasnt debugged properly? or perhaps this is just (hopefully)
a VBox/Linux kernel bug?

Anyone noticing this kind of hard lockups/freezing with multiple VMs
on an AMD-V enabled Opteron?

Any ideas will be appreciated....
FC
