Hi All,
After finally getting vpopmail to install, I am not able to log in as a new
vpop user.
Environment: FreeBSD 4.2, qmail-1.03
Config line:
# ./configure --enable-default-domain=mydom.or.jp --enable-roaming-users=y
Output:

I have had vpopmail/qmail set up fine for a few days now.
I am using --with-mysql for password authentication.
I am consistently getting this type of error:

All files are owned by vpopmail.vchkpw.

That is what it looks like.. I am actually troubleshooting a customer
issue... qmailadmin is showing email addresses that are not actually in
the domain's vpopmail directory but I am not getting a bounce message,
only a core dump I can't say for sure but, if I send a message to an

I am seeing a lot of these errors in /var/log/messages:
May 7 21:44:53 W11-6 /kernel: pid 5426 (vdelivermail), uid 98: exited on
signal 11 (core dumped)
May 7 21:46:43 W11-6 /kernel: pid 5452 (vdelivermail), uid 98: exited on

Were there any errors in the qmail log file?
Perhaps running out of file descriptors or some such?
Is your queue broken? Did you run out of inodes?
Have you tried sending out a small text message?
Does it give the same results?

Looks pretty good. I would send the output of tcpserver into
multilog, not splogger/syslog.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I would put a file (attachment) of that size
on FTP.
As far as I know FTP transfers the file in binary form which means that
you stay away from the stricky encoding/decoding stuff.
Also, it's up to the receiver to decided whether or not they want the

Hi,
I know this might be a bit off-topic, and I apologize, but I don't know
where else to turn to.
I have a small mailing list, 260 members. I have sent out one email to the

Do I have all the steps here?
I am mainly worried about the syntax of steps 4 and 5 (startup scripts
syntax).

2. Does the /var/qmail/users/cdb have anything to do with the

3. Once pop and smtp are handled by tcpserver, how do I control access

This is a quick hack, I tested it on a small list on my Linux box:

I just posted the new development version.
The new features being added are:
- optionally storing clear text passwords in the cdb and mysql modules
- storing alias/forwards in a mysql table
- new api's for maintaining alias/forwards. For the mysql module
it will maintain the information in a

http://members.elysium.pl/brush/qmail-smtpd-auth/ might be what you're
looking for. Just replace /bin/checkpassword with /home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw
and it should work with vpopmail.

I had the same results as Rick. It took me a bit to get it setup since I
didn't read the setup completely. Users that use POP in Outlook Express
have no problems since OE checks POP before sending. Regular Outlook
