I actually just had an error like that
if the domain is setup in /var/qmail/control/locals
then it'll look at it as a local domain, not virtual
it'll look at the system accounts (/etc/passwd) not the virtual accounts

Subject: qmail+vpopmail problem

Alright, I'm a bit new to the qmail world, but I'm pretty sure I've got the qmail part of my system setup correctly.  I have installed vpopmail and have no problems adding or deleting domains and users.  (no errors)   When I try to send an e-mail to one of the addresses that I create, I get:

<xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

I've been told to go back and re-read the install info for vpopmail, and nothing is jumping out at me.  My first instincts were that it had something to do with qmail itself, but I've been assured that its something with my vpopmail configuration.  I can check and send mail to accounts that are listed in /etc/passwd.

Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but I'm not seeing it.

Thank you,

Eli Katzenmeyer
