Since this thread is moved from a how to to a design I'm changing it
to the vcl-dev list.
These are some of the initial key questions which would need to be
discovered/answered.

release because it wasn't maintained by the original creator. Since
the current active committers don't have a way to test and validate
it, we had to drop it from the 2.1.1 version.
