For starters, it buys you the ability to use X server configuration tools
such as kdmconfig or Xorg -configure that won't run

No, there are much problems with the initial prototype. We're working
to get the correct console behaviour, single user mode, tipline,
security, etc all working properly.

Riny and Lingbo have worked out a prototype that can enable multiple
console.
But there's still much work to do to support
