Start: ASAP Duration: 12+ Months Location: Boston, MA Rate: Negotiable / No Rate Cap (W2 or Corp to Corp) Interview Mode: Phone Screen or Skype Site Reliability Engineer, Contract Boston, MA Responsibilities • Define configuration, monitoring, reliability and performance standards. • Serve as SME for multiple proprietary and open source technologies • Design and implement innovations that improve software engineering velocity, infrastructure resiliency, security, and data availability • Coordinate and perform major upgrades with zero downtime • Provide advice on the capabilities and limits of the multi-datacenter production infrastructure in software architecture designs • Solve live performance and stability issues and prevent their recurrence Requirements • Strong or advanced knowledge of: • Unix/Linux systems. • Page cache and command line. • Automation. • Configuration management. • Infrastructure management (hundreds or thousands of servers). • Networking fundamentals. • TCP/IP, subnetting and the difference between socket and connect timeouts. • Web operations best practices. • Operated websites at scale. • Distributed systems. • Data consistency and availability when designing systems. • Troubleshooting tough problems. • Quickly comprehend in-house code, open source code, and how it fits together. • Identify and consider all risks, and balance those with performing the task efficiently. • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment. • Receptive to giving, receiving and implementing feedback. • Solid communicator with great customer service skills. • Extremely curious about how things work.
