That's only if you're backing up the physical host using the Redhat client.
If you're backing up the virtual hosts (ie - you install the NBU client in the VM's) you still need a license per virtual client. I've had *this* confirmed by Veritas. (although that doesn't necessarily mean it's correct!
For those with the problem, when VSP does not get cleaned up,
which directory would it be in , on the Windows server ?

Others have noted that is is doable and supported. What hasnt been said yet
is that veritas only require 1 license (of each client) type to backup all
virtual machines running on a physical system. That is, veritas is
licensing the physical hardware.
I have confirmed this with veritas.

We are using VMWare. You have choices as to backing up the physical or
logical servers. The physical servers will get a status 1 because the
.DSK files (the logical servers) are open files. You can quiesce the
logical servers during the backup however this was not optimal for us.

I've gotten as far as seeing that vmware does present SAN tape drives to a
RedHat virtual machine,
I backup a RedHat ES 3, WinNT4, and Win2000 virtual machines on a VMWare
ESX server. Each virtual machine runs it's own instance of the client.
All my virtual machines are clients (no media servers).

On the surface, it looks like it should be doable but confirmation would be

Thanks for any info.

I wouldn't backup via autofs. First why backup via NFS rather than
backing up the filesystem from its native host? You still have the
network impact but don't have to worry about NFS' overhead and quirks.

Ok, if the backup is not running on the Node, do you get any status error
messages?
What if you uninstall / reinstall the client software and possibly create a
new backup policy for the node that secondary node?
Maybe MP5 will help. As you said
