Yes, back in the 3.4 days I saw this caused by both Compaq Insight Manager and HP EMS (on HPUX servers). I don't know if the Microsoft's RSM service would do the same, as I always turn it off.
But as Jack says, SCSI RESERVE should fix the problem.

Ya, I know. That's why I have
the SCO servers in the first place. After working in this field for
13 years, I have run across several such applications, both home grown
and purchased.
My point was that 3.4 clients are no

Hi Richard.
Yes what you say is true, but 4.5 is going out of support
this summer. This means that up to then are issues are suported. I
suppose that most issues regarding NT (since NT has been rather static for some
years) have been resolved. But it's not a matter of implementation,

I take it that since your tape drives are on a SAN, they are being
shared by multiple hosts? The "external event caused rewind" suggests
that while one server was performing a backup, another host that can see
the drives did a SCSI inquiry or some other command to the drive which
caused it to
Hi.
You need to have a licence for SPS. When you enter the key , the SPS backup
type will appear in the list.

I have a 3.4 HPUX client on a 5.0 Master. Although Veritas
says not supported, it doesn't mean it doesn't work. Your problem will be only
if you need support.

NT4 is no longer supported as a client for
backup using Netbackup v6.0. Will I be able to continue to backup my NT4
clients using client software version 4.5 FP6 and Netbackup Master server
version 6.0.
Thanks, Mark

Hi

The biggest
gains you may / will see are by changing the NET_BUFFER_SZ, NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS
and SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS. Make sure that the SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS are appropriate for
your tape drives.
You can also translate some of the kernel tuning
for NT/2000/2003 and/or
Hello all:
Was wondering if anyone out there has any documentation on
tuning NBU performance for obtaining maximum throughput of LTO2/LTO3 tape
devices under Windows 2003?
Any info would be greatly appreciated; there doesn’t
seem to be a lot of info available on the Veritas support

Please be assured I was not out to criticise, merely wanted to be sure what
I was advising a colleague was 100% correct, otherwise they will end up
re-importing a lot of tapes :-)

Simon,
Ah, never too old to learn! You are right, the -backupID switch will set
the expiration date for the image. Until now I always used the -m
(mediaID) switch, I think it was the only one available in version
3.4.1., which was the first version I was trained on. But if you look at
