We have a master server that connects to a SL500 robot. The drives in
the SL500 library are all directly conencted to a Netapp. We have been
using this to backup the netapp over NDMP. So far so good. Can this
setup be extended to backup widows clients? We are running version 6

You don't mention the server platform, but we've been warned (and found)
that our Solaris servers need to be up to date on Kernel patches to avoid
problems, just going to 5.1. I realise 6.0 is very different, but I
suggest that at least if you use Solaris it is likely to still be true.

We're in the process of moving from our 4.5FP8 system to 6.0MP1
(everythin new). The major problem we're seeing, are ERROR 41's as
we start "loading up" the media servers. These would occur in
batches and appear on the more heavily loaded media server.
Any 6.0 environments out there experiencing t
Indeed in our test lab I've used the Qlogic card with the QLogic driver,

I have also setup NOM and have setup reports and notifications.
Anyone else implemented NOM?

Hi.
I have also upgraded to 6.0 . I think that if you don't have the Vault

Hi.
When you add a tape, it will appear in the in the vmquery output, but not in
the bpmedialist command output.
It will appear in the bpmedialist command output when it has been used in a
succesfull backup.
The vmquery -deassignbyid command is VERY bad way to go. It will cause major
mismatches
Sun really seems to be dragging their feet when it comes to support for
any FC tape. We started with FC tape with SGI servers over 4 years
ago. No problem. Same thing for HP-UX. We also had a couple of Sun

drives we had. Th
All,
Has anyone already upgraded its NetBackup solution from 5.1 MP3 to 6.0 MP1 ?
My customer environment is composed of Windows 2003 servers, Exchange
clusters, SQL and Notes databases.
Veritas Security Services are also implemented on the master server.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

Hi there,
I have just recently upgraded from Netbackup Enterprise version 5.1MP3
to 6.0MP1
After the upgrade that went without a hitch the Netbackup Vault Manager
Service refuses to start up. I am not using vault and do not have a
licence for it but the service is listed and will not start! It

Yes, though there is almost nothing you can tune. Search on the internet
for the document entitled "San Foundation Suite Tunables".
We have also found that our library vendor does not actually support using
the qlc driver with their libraries, as it does not comply with the
fibre-channel stand

I had the same thing happen and got a solution from Veritas (excuse me,
symantec). It is drastic but it does work. You need to know the tape ID
and the pool number.
install_path\volmgr\bin\vmquery.exe -deassignbyid
0 (that's a zero, use on a tape that is NOT a catalog)
install_path\volmgr\bin
I have a similar situation. I have a tape that shows up in the media
list in the gui, but I can't delete it or anything. I get the message
that the volume is not in the NB database.

Hi all,
I am having problems with some of my media id's not appearing in the "NB media

see the tape using vmquery, but I cannot see the tape usin
