Write a script that will use vmquery -v ***
-bx | grep -i scratch | wc -l and then send you a note when it reaches a
certain threshold and update a web page.

Anyone know of a
veritas doc that covers installing a media server, and linking it to a master,
and the pros/cons/requirements of making the master vs the media server the
global device database host?
The SAGs seem to be
very light on the topic.
Thanks,

There should be a readme file there as well that would detail what log does
what.
Unfortunately, the script that comes with windows creates log directories for
everything, even items you don't need. There isn't anything for automated
directory builds
To say this is not pretty would be an understatement.
We've run something similar, and thankfully we've purchased some new
hardware and are getting away from this model. My tips would be as
follows.
1 - Separate "Site" Storage Groups so you don't run backups across the
wan.
2- "c:\Program File

1. Should media be viewable on the master or media server? (all currently on master) -
It can be viewable on either, so you need to decide where u want to keep the volume database :

or

I prefer on Master - there is a touch file you need to creat

No - but you can use the same contents (mkdir ...)
Just delete the directories not related to LINUX afterwards. (See Troubleshooting guide for more info)

Good luck with the 1/8...we have one, but don't use it due to the lack
of barcode reader. It got messy managing the tapes. We created a shell
script to label the tapes & vmphyinfo and stuff, but it never really
worked well. Operators found a bunch of ways to mess it up.

I know in windows there is a .bat file that
creates all your log directories, is there something similar for Linux
