Same here, just got into work, 2 streams failed - restarted, but
as the backup window closed at 6am (got in at 6:30am) it went straight to

Well I am on 5.1 and very happy about it! In your case, I am not sure if
there is a direct upgrade path - you may need to go from 5.1 and then to 6.
Maybe the list can clarify this for me in case I am leading you down a wrong
path.
Benefits of 6.0 - Guess I would read release notes about it
I've been playing
around with both (and got them both working, which is nice) but I've got a quick
question, more for documentation. I had to configure the Master server (Client
Attributes' container) for Windows Open file backups to backup open files (which
makes sense) but is this

Hello,
Currently, when I do a restore, a few media servers read from each tape,
about 5-6 out of 30-40 media servers, probably due to FORCE_MEDIA_SERVER
in the bp.confs on master/media servers.
If I want the restore to run off of ALL AVAILABLE media servers, then I
would add:
I did what I said on the master and it increased my streams from 5-6 to 15
of 28 streams.
My next question is, is the FAILOVER_MEDIA_SERVER, for instance.
Say I have a backup:
HOST=BOX1
BOX1 was backed up on mediaServA.
Say mediaServA is busy, will the
FAILOVER_MEDIA_SERVER = mediaServA

Guys
Got a quote for NBU IDR for 5.1, and the quote is around several
hundred pounds, but what is not clear and what I dont seem tobe able to verify
is whether this covers mulitple Windows Servers or
not.
I
know the license would go on the Master Server for the IDR, but does

Hi Simon
I have an old listprice from the end of 2004 and that
was USD 1.125 per Windows client.
But don't spend any money, time or energy om IDR. It is
a dead end. IDR is not and will not be supported under NBU 6.0 or
later.
MBR is the way of the future.
And if you have to

Hi Johnny
Thanks for this - At the moment, some of our NBU 5.x environments
are quite complex, so upgrading them to 6.0 and having the use of BMR is not an
option straight away.
If it was £500+ for a license to be placed on the master, which
allowed me to use IDR for some of

I
posed a question like this a few weeks back, and got told to either duplicate
the tapes and that way they are assigned to the correct volume or look at this

I'm thinking here that another possible solution (other
than extending the window) might be to increase the time that jobs go to

My feeling is, the tape needs to be unassigned from its volume pool number,
and then re-assigned to the correct pool number!

If you want to move an assigned tape from one volume pool to another you will first have to unassign the tape and then re-assign it.
This is from the technote "Media Manager error 94: "Volume not in specified pool" - scenarios and solutions "

Well ok. I am not move tapes from one media server to the other, just
changing what tape pool it belongs to. Will this still work if I specify
the old and new media server with the same name?

Which run days did you have checked. The one for the start of the start

get more than one full per week? I am using Solaris 9 just like you. I
have tried both the windows and the java gui's. I also had no rerun

Is the same procedure used with a
robotic library, the diference is that you change the tapes.

Hello , Can some one let me know the procedure to configure block level backups fora windows client where my master is running netbackup 5.1 MP3What should be the file list for Block Level Backup ?Thanks in Advance Cheers ,
Ram . Send instant messages to your online friends
You should look in event viewer on the
Exchange box to see if there are any errors. The logs should be deleted automatically
if the job ended in a status 0.
