server) and the only consoles I have discovered so far are the
'NetBackup Administration Console which gets installed as part of the server
install and the 'NetBackup - Java Console' which can be installed separately.

FYI, If you are running NBU6 and followed
the instruction on page 557 of the Admin guide and changed the NBDB database
password, the installation of MP2 and MP3 will fail. I would like to thank
Veritas for that little “feature”. The update works after you set
the password back to the defaul

This is the thing though; with a remote admin console (non
Java version) on Windows-based machine (connecting to a Unix Master), I can't
browse either, so it doesn't look like it's an issue with using the Java
GUI.

The browsing Tim appears to be talking about is on the
backup selections tab in a policy so the server must get a list of file
systems and files via the agent on the client, not physically mount file
systems.
I think it is just a feature (or lack of) of the Java
GUI.

There is a potential for data loss. I experienced it.
It is possible for the entire tape to become corrupted.
Thankfully, this was on a new NetBackup installation so I was able to catch up with new full backups.

Verify that your network ports are configured properly, and that you're
running at FULL duplex.
If you're running GigE, then boths sides should be configured as
Auto-Speed/Auto-Duplex, and when you mouse over the little network icons

First things first - Network infrastructure! Something definetely sounds a
little "off" here.
Also, ensure all Network related clients are talking at correct maximum
speed, as if they were before the move. (ie: Say you were running at 1GB
Full, ensure the backbone runs at this type of speed
We have the following:
Master - Win2k3 SP1, NBU 6.0MP2
Media (1) - Win2K3 SP1, NBU6.0MP2
We backup everything to the media server on their respective subnet to
either SAN disk for DSSU, or some go straight to tape. Our tape library
is an ADIC Scalar i2K with 2 fibre LTO3s connected to our SAN.
Can you give any further clearer details as to what your setup is?
What was the speeds BEFORE the move?
Is there anything differently configured compared to how it was before the
move?
What about clients - are the clients with slow throughput are SAN Clients or
LAN ?

From my perspective (and being a Win2k3 setup) my checklist would

If its Windows, it should have created an uninstall
option to remove it.
If not, I am afraid its either:
1) call to Veritas to manually remove
it
2) Reinstall NBU and recover from last known NBU Catalog Backups
(assuming they have not been used AFTER the MP was
applied).
