Daniel,
The x64 client is for Opteron (AMD) systems. To
install on an Itanium, you need the IA64 client. Look
for the version that has IA64 in the name of the file
in place of the "X64" you have now.

You tried to install the x64 Version wich is meant for
Opteron and Xeon processors.
As you have a Itanium based machine you must use the IA64
Version. This Version is located on the installation CDs.

I had the same issue. Try SERVERNAME instead of SERVERNAME.DOMAIN.COM. It
solved my issue.
