Our

In testing the Linux media server, I've ran across a problem I've not
seen before. When I initiate a backup that will use the Linux media
server, I received this:

Reason: Tape media server is not active., Media Server:

I've had this happen when the drive needed to be cleaned

I think I've just found mine. The drive in question issued a Tape Alert 37

ADIC/Quantum support. The ADIC GUI says replace. We'll see what a human says.

what I experienced, was a tape getting loaded into a drive, the drive going
"DOWN", then another tape in another drive, that drivegoing "DOWN", repeatedly
untill all drive were down, but no tapes wereused.

I had this happen to me when my drives were mismatched on the robot. I

actually configured in NB as 0,3,2,1. When tape went into NB drive 3,
it was actually in robot drive 1. I confused NB and used all of my

Hi Greg,In my last site we ran everything on VCS so we setup our master server as a clustered application within that framework and NetBackup has all the scripts to install on cluster nodes - this gives you cover for local hardware failure. To cover us for site failure we used VVR/GCO in async mode
Asif,
Do /dev/rmt/cbn definitions exist? More then likely the drives might
have tapes stuck in them. Try mt -f /dev/rmt/?cbn? status to see if tape
are stuck. Also perform a robtest. If you run robtest make sure no jobs
are active. Also look at your logs /usr/openv/vol/debug for more
information.

Your

All,
We're purchasing the Advanced Client option to enable us to pull raw

The last two mornings, I've come into work finding my scratch pool all

If I'm not mistaken, Windows Applications can only use up to 3GB (with
David's Boot switch, below) and any memory usage after that has to be
done with Address Windowing Extensions (AWE) where the application
itself bypasses the given 3GB Virtual Address space and writes pages
directly to RAM. I'v

Hello
We have a Windows 2003 SP1 master/media server with 32GB RAM but it is only
using about 1-2 GB of it and have over 100 pages/sec when running backups.
The line in boot.ini looks like this
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003,
Enterprise" /noexecute=optout /fast
