Simon, The suggestions by Ed, Dominik, etc. are the way to go. I used mysqldump to dump the DB to a file (I'm in Windows so I created a batch file with the appropriate mysqldump command and setup a scheduled task). This way you don't have to take it down (theoretically :) ). Cheers, Tim
