By no means is this a big deal.
In the Backup and Restore gui, what happens when you "preview media" when
the primary copy is located on a dssu? Do you get an error?
Our master is running 6.0MP4 on Solaris 10. I tried the preview with jnbSA
on the master, backup and restore on the client, and a
I use a STK FLX210 (EOL) SATA array for my DSSU, but I'm using NBU

certainly helped.
As for the failed images not getting cleaned up, I have noticed that

If you did not install the Java console then no you should not install
the Java patch. Please clarify the issue for me, is Qualys giving
positives on ALL NetBackup installations about the bpjava-msvc or is it
only giving those positives on the NBU Admin console machines?
Thank you
Mike Heck

Are you referring to the java admin console which is a separate
installation on a windows client?
If you do not install the java admin console, should you still install
the patch for it?

Am I reading this thread correctly, in that the issue revolves around

Edwin,
(Sorry for the delayed response!)
I have a few comments for you:
Due to the integration of BMR into NBU 6.0, much of the work you had to do with
previous versions of BMR is now gone. The BMR database is covered by the NBU
catalog backup. Nothing special needs to be done to handle the B
Hi,
Can you give us more informations ??
I need to implement the VmWare consolidated backup on Netbackup an I'm really a
beginner on the VmWare environment.
Is there a specific Symantec documentation on how to implement the intrface

The only thing that screams at me from below is the NetApp 3020.
Since the 3020 is, AFAIK, a NAS filer (At least the one I have is), are
you saying that the 3020 is mounting the LUNs from the the Arrays and
then the Windows media server is using CIFs shares from the NetApp as

Looking into this as we speak !
Sounds good! Does work on 5,1 and 6.0
You need win2k3 (Hooray!) as your VCB Proxy Server :-)

The response I got from symantec is that the vulnerability has been
resolved and that they are not responsible for other companies'
software.
I don't know what Qualys response is because I am not a customer. I
asked our security group (the customer) to obtain an official response
from Qualys.

We use FATA drives - not much difference between them and SATA really.

In general I agree.
However, it is best to only use FQDN for the majority of the time. The
problem is for (UNIX anyway) you can only have 6 domains in
/etc/resolv.conf, after that, short-names won't work anymore if you _rely_
on DNS for the naming resolution.

Okay guys, lets not go changing to FQDN and say it makes NetBackup happy.
NetBackup is happy with non-FQDN's, very happy. It is the admins that are
happy with FQDN's.
Fix DNS, have system admins do it correctly. Don't change the backup
environment because some system admins can't understand DNS
