This paragraph was taken from Oracle9i RMAN user's guide:
The benefit of performing multilevel incremental backups is that RMAN
does not back up all blocks all of the time. _/Since RMAN needs to read
all of the blocks of the datafile, full backups and incremental backups

I did the obvious and restarted netbackup.
But if anyone can supply a command line, I will try that next time.

Folks,
I've been monitoring BMR policies/hosts more closely lately. We are
running 6.0MP4 and I'm having issues with a few Linux BMR hosts. Here's the
info from the Activity Monitor:

Jason,
For what it's worth. We have two circumstances where RH3 and BMR
(nbu6mp4)have problems. One is servers inside a DMZ, the other is with
servers that have two nics running. The odd thing about the dual nic
servers is that if you run the discovery option a BMR restore will work
even though
Humm. What's odd is that the servers that are registered are on the
perimeter/dmz. It's the ones on the inside, where the NBU master/BMR Master
lives.
I did find this in the unified logs from one of the linux hosts in question:
04/18/2007 23:00:57.524 [main.cpp:bmrmain()] Entering, line=604,
In Netbackup 6 I have a policy with 5 clients. I want to exclude backups
for the next two days for a single host while the other 4 backup as
usual. Is there a way to do it? Both the server and the clients are
Solaris if that makes a difference.

Just modify the policy to remove the 5th host. When you're ready to
resume add the 5th host back to the list.

We are trying to keep our volumes around 1TB.
I have some which are around 3TB but by using LTO3 I can get it on 3,4
tapes.
Restore will be slower but no way I want to manage hundreds of qtree
levels backups.
I'd done that for couple years and it was a nightmare even with
scripting.
I am almost there with the script. I will pass it on. I am having
trouble with having the date change in the script. I don't want it to be
a manual process. When the script runs I want it to automatically change
the date to the previous day so I can use the previous night backup's

If this was Windows, I'd expect the disk is fragmented.
What is the nature of the disk space under these files? Same disk or
allocation as others or somehow separate?
Every writer on this list (that I've noticed) has been emphatic that MPs
before MP4 have a myriad of problems.

Hello,
Has anyone moved their catalog location to a new file system during the
initial install of Netbackup? I am planning for an install of Netbackup
6.0 MP4 on Windows 2003 64-bit.
Thanks in advance,
Dwayne Adams
