Hi All
I have netbackup 6.0 installed in solaris box. I have two policies with 11
clients each . I have created a exclude_list.policyname and also
include_list.poilcyname in all the clients under the directory
/usr/openv/netbackup/ and also added respective entry, but it is not excluding
We've been running Aptare's StorageConsole for several years. The install
is fairly easy and if you need help, Aptare will help you. I'm guessing
that the install was done in an hour or two. Configuration is trivial - the
hardest part, if you choose to make it so, is setting up the server groups

Hi
Sounds exactly like what we are about to start. Except we are using windows
(dodgy). My research indicates the sybase facilities are not documented so
that we can't play with the innards. What disappoints me is there seems to
be no data replication to a remote database. I suspect not all
Given the wintel background of Symantec you thought it would have been done
by now.
Likewise for master server & EMM server running on VMWARE. It substantially

All,
Is anyone running their NOM server on a VM (linux or windows)? I was at
a conference last week at Symantec and they did a demo of the product
running the NOM server on a VM but said it wasn't supported. I'm
curious to know if anyone is doing it anyway.
Thanks,

As we all know there is a well-known issue of the NetBackup
Administration Console and having multiple users running at the same
time. I decided to set about creating a wrapper program for our
environment and have succeeded in creating a version 0.1 of the program
which we are currently testing.
Nevermind...you need to ensure all your NetBackup Services are

I've only ever been able to do this from the command line -- you may want to
set up a batch file if you have a lot of tapes to do all at once. I know a
lot of changes were made with version 6, but I got so used to using the
command line, I'm not sure it's a GUI feature now.

Got the solution -- turns out that there was a stranded Terminal Services

the disconnected session was causing the problem.
Thanks for your help -- both these responses helped me track it down.

Doing a catalog search, I find the same client backups, including ids that
are registered as copy 2, not primary. Updating to primary removes the
primary flag on the disk-resident images. So, I'm fairly certain that
they're on tape. Also, the DSSU jobs are running fine.

Good morning all -
I'm hoping to get some feedback on disaster recovery - but of NBU itself
- for the cases where a site doesn't exist anymore.
For purposes of this question - assume that we have two sites, "East"
and "West".
Master and media servers are HPUX running NBU 6.
Each site has - a ha

And have a few questions. I'm currently running Netbackup 5.1 MP4 on my

My question is,
All,
I am narrowing down my search for a reporting tool to these 2 products.
Does anybody have any experience with both of these?
How was the install and configuration? (length and complications)
Do they really do a good job of handling multiple backup software
environments?
How was support?
Good morning all-
I'm hoping to get some feedback on the pros/cons of, differences and
similarities between, and experience with Symantec's "Sharepoint" agent
(for NBU 6) vs. the stock SQL agent, or with "other" agents that may
exist for Sharepoint.
According to the marketing material, the Syman
Ok. I will do this manually. It's BPEXPDATE the only way, or is it possible to
do this from the gui?

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Change retention in all tapes in a policy

I've been fighting similar behavior in 6.5 as well. MP4 was working well

I went thru a time of changing retention length on some old backups in

I changed the retention period on the backup images and they expired and
deleted the images. Well the tapes seem not to clear up. I let them
sit for the day, and the system

I have now tried this. But still same problem.

I hoped this tape would be moved to sratch pool, but is not. The taped
