Hi Simon
We currently had a Symantec do an upgrade at our site from version 5.1 to

upgrade we now a have a virtual master server and physical media. From what we

Hi Curtis
Well guess what.. there is a client that is looking at VM'ing Master and
Media Servers and want to use a tape drive or robot!
I am under the impression its not supported or works. Your comments seem to
reflect this may not be the case.
Can you clarify?

Todd,
We had this issue, opened a case and resolved it.
It's about the connection options of the client in the 6.5.1 environment using
either a 5.1 or sometimes a 6.5.x client.
Run the bpclient command and change the connections options to 1 0 2.
This will place the client under the Master Ser

Since the format of the backup is not covered in the NDMP spec, each vendor was
free to create their own backup format -- and they did. They each had the same
idea of using a "Unixy" format, and hacking it in some way to support Windows

I have several policies that back up network drives through Windows and I use
the UNC path for them. You have to enter this manually but it insures that if
the drive letter is changed the filesystem is still backed up.

Does anyone know if Ubuntu is going to be supported in Netbackup 6.5? I
did find a compatibility matrix, but that was just for 6 and it was a

Thanks.

I know this answer is too late for you, Simon, but the "base" install for

Anyone out there upgraded to Netbackup Puredisk 6.5 yet? We are at 6.2.1, and
looking to move up. Any war stories yet on this?
Thanks

On UNIX/Linux all the policy information is under

Well it looks like I am stuffed, as the client now wants a Media Server

So doomed from the start !
