I have a plan to upgrade my library from ADIC scalari100 to
Scalari2000 and LTO-4.
Currently I used NetBackup 6.0 MP4.
Can you inform me please which version of NetBackup software that support LTO-4?
I'am waiting for your information. Thanks.
Regards,
Moehatdee
NetBackup 6.0X should support LTO-4, the only change you may need to make
is you need to upgrade the tpconfig/db file, there is a mappings
upgrade, check symantec's site, 6.0MP4 should work fine.

We have upgraded from 5.1.4 to 6.5 and then .2 and then .2.a
I have never opened this many support requests with any softwhere vendor
before.
We still have two issues.

The creation of a media server on Windows 2008 has yet to be successful.
I believe that if you check the compatibility chart you'll see that this is

We have a cisco network with a 1gb backbone. At this point we are
hammering the network when we run backups. We have tried link
aggregation on the backbone and the nics on the master/media servers
with very poor results. A lot of failed jobs. We have tried this with
5.1, 6.0 and now 6.5 with
I just love conflicting information. Although I trust the information
provided by this list more than the staff at symantec the fact that the
support staff has agreed to help with this issue and the pdf at

I'm using INTEL PRO/1000 PCIe Quad Port nics here in a teamed
configuration without issue. I don't remember the exact spec, but the
switch gets configured to some 802.xx spec and then you create the team
via the intel software (Windows 2003 in this case). I configured this
two years ago and I
God bless poor Ed he can't stay on top of everything!
My confidence level for a Solaris 9 64bit master working with a Windows
2008 media server is low despite the official Symantec support.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Hi,
Has anyone been able to backup and restore files that reside on a VMWare host
which has dynamic disks? If so, could you please advise me on which product you
used to get this working.
Thanks in advance.

Does anybody happen to have a NetBackup configuration questionnaire that
they might give to a customer to fill out? Questions would be things
like volume pools, retention periods and such. The kinds of things you
would need to know to configure a brand new NetBackup environment.

Hello,
Has anyone had a chance to upgrade to 6.5.2A in an HP/UX Itanium environment
yet?
We just did a fresh install with Symantec's help/watching/blessing through the
whole install and it went fairly smoothly. Now we are left with some issues
(Seem to be mostly JAVA/GUI related)

I'm configuring Netbackup 6.0 MP4 so that an operations group can perform their
own restores with non-root permissions.
Does NB 6.0 MP4 have a configuration for users (ie: $HOME/bp.conf) that I can
restrict where they do their restores to?
Similar to:
RESTORE_DIRECTORY = /tmp/ (or $HOME/)
Only if you have a bar code reader..
If it's a stacker, it probably doesn't have one.
