[Veritas-bu] Slow Backups after 6.5.2 Upgrade

Has anyone experienced slower backups after the 6.0 MP5 to 6.5.2 upgrade? All Windows clients are still running 6.0 MP5 and in most cases, backups are taking twice as long as before. I have been getting numerous 196's every morning since the upgrade last week. Will upgrading the clients improve

I am upgrading a handful of clients now that run Full backups every night. On one hand I really do want to find the fix, but on the other hand, I'm not looking forward to trying to upgrade 700 clients before Thanksgiving :) Thanks for the response, Justin. I will post an update. -Original M

My Exchange servers are not media servers so that resolves that issue. If nothing else, I’ll disable the service and see what happens. Thank you all for the responses. This always seems to be quicker than opening a call. I’m not bad-mouthing the Symantec tech support because they have save

[Veritas-bu] Is it feasible to run NOM in a VMware virtual machine

By "feasible" I don't mean "can you do it" I mean "can you do it in such a way so that performance is reasonable". The system that I'm running NOM on is going away so I need to find a new home for it and running it on a VM would be a nice and easy replacement. Thanks, Jamie Jamison

My experience with NOM on Solaris revealed it to be quite a memory hog. If giving your VM NOM environment a pile of ram in VMware is acceptable (+2GB?), then you might have a winning combination. With Vmware, you might get some of that physical ram back if you use the vmware tools and hope for th
