I could never get LU to install and actually work. I ended up just
settling on updating each of the clients through the install client
script. It may be a pain the first time, but I set up authentication key
access to speed up direct access from master-to-client.

Intermittently I am seeing the following errors on 2 nearly identical linux

Usually all you need to do is modify your bp.conf file (Unix client.. otherwise
its the Registry in Windows) to point to which master server you're using. So
there isn't an "automated" way to make it work.

OK, first rule...forget the documentation Symantec gives you for this
process..unfortunately it is not great. Here is what we use to get http going
for lu for either Windows or Unix. We have had no problem with it now that we
have the process down..and have been able to patch application clust
Download gawk and pipe the reulsts of bpdbjobs -mostcolumns to it.
I'llwrite the awk line for what you need when i get to work tonight, but
basically gawk is going to do two things for you here - it will let you easily
filter that output down to the jobs where the parent ID and the JobID match

before anyone could possibly answer it.
In general, however, although it is possible for a given NetBackup client to
believe that various hosts are valid servers, only the first one listed in
bp.conf (or in the Wind
... or any other modern web browser, all of which are capable of parsing XML.

any case, passing it through, for example, PHP's simple_xml library would be
more useful for generating printed reports.

If you make them a new streams, then you will get an error if the server

Had old master - that I kept around to do restores until the images
expired.
But new master was doing all the backups.
So for the clients - I change the master on the server list to my new
master, but kept the name of the old master in the "other serv

As I said, the only hitch would be that if you were to use bplist/bprestore (or
the Backup, Archive, and Restore GUI) on the client in question, you would have
to explicitly switch the master server to specify the old one in bp.conf / the
registry.

That file exists for me as well but neither Firefox 3 nor IE 7 think it
is formatted properly.
That was after I transferred it to my Windows from HP-UX using WinSCP.
