Review the logs or the job details in Activity Monitor. You dont mention what sort of client it is. Usually, it could be due to locked file in use, and NetBackup was unable to gain exclusive access to this. Could also be a .tmp file that was locked. From: verita

With unix "Permission Denied" is usually an NFS mount thing. I'll bet you a nickle it's on an NFS mount and the permissions in the export table on the NFS server aren't allowing root on the client to function with full permissions in that mountpoint. (root=) -M ___
