Greetings,
I'm having some performance issues with various administrative
tasks in NetBackup 6.5.3.1 on a new master server and fewer than
20 active backup policies.
My master server is a Dell PE2950 server with 16GB memory running
Redhat 4 update 7.
What I'm seeing is really poor response when
Greetings,
I know this isn't a specific Veritas question but I'm guessing someone
may have run into this problem while setting up a new installation.
I'm trying to get a new 6.5.3 installation ready for some testing on a
linux RHEL 4.5 server using a qlogic QLE2462 card. The tape libraries
Got a MS SQL user who needs a restore of MS SQL database from last night.
We've been doing these SQL backups and this is the first time a restore is
needed. It was already in place when I got here.
The user is in the SQL part of NBU (6.5.3) and kicks off his restore request -

Be sure you follow the documentation, even though it's scattered through
several different docs. Most of the other stuff has been mentioned
already, but you also need to pay attention to supported patch levels and
hardware. If PBX is already installed, you need to make sure that's at the

You might want to review

and
You need to do consistency check using NBCC.
Netbackup services should be done before upgrading.
Please find the steps which I have performed.
1. Preparing your server for upgrade

Essentially, I done an upgrade yesterday. It was not too bad - make sure
your NBCC -upgrade is absolutely clean before starting.
For me, I took an image backup of the Master Server, Full Catalog Backup
of Master / SAN Media Servers to disk and tape and then removed tape
from the library.
When we upgraded on HP-UX, we had a couple bomb outs during the process
as some files that were slated to be upgraded were still being used...
Be sure that all NB processes on the master are stopped prior to the
upgrade...
We lost about an hour on that one...

Hi All,
I am planning on upgrading my NetBackup solution this weekend from 5.1
to 6.5.3, I have followed the latest upgrade checklist and everything
looks good to go.
Does anyone out there who has already performed this upgrade have any
words of caution or gotcha's that they can offer?
What is the reporting software?
Thanks

We upgraded our production environment yesterday, so not exactly a
long-term test, yet, but so far, so good...
It *appears* to have addressed problems that we were seeing wi
Hello,
I'm curious whether there are people who already upgraded to the new
