Im running netbackup 7.0.1 on 2003 x64. The server hardware is new, an HP DL580. Once or twice a week the Netbackup Database Manager service craps out causing a round of failed backups. This appears in the windows eventlog. Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event

Try adding the following entry to the top of your file selection for those backups: SET HIST=N This will stop the netapps sending history to Netbackup. Obviously less than ideal, but a good starting point for troubleshooting. Also, look in your consolidated logs vxlogview -p NB -o ndmp For

Saran May be a problem with the tape drive or the tape drive config or the tape drive cabling. What type of tape library do you have? Can you tell us a little more about the tape drives and how they are connected to the netapp filer. Can you issue the netapp commands . sysconfig -t .
