Try to telnet master server 13720 from the client, checks connection to bprd
You might have to install some compat libriaries know this has been
the case on other Unix/Linux systems
ldd against the netbackup commands might give an indication

You can also run, from the master/media servers:
Bptestbpcd -client clientname -debug
The debug switch is undocumented and will give you a lot of output that
looks like/is log entries. This may help you figure out your problem.
Have you checked bpcd log on the client?
