I do not remember any question regarding appliance. Also no question about
puredisk.
But you will have questions about deduplication.

The problem I imagine that you have is that the catalog migration had finish
and I cannot find a way to restart it.
If you check the output of the command nbemmcmd -listsettings -machinename
, you will see that the value of LIST_FS_IMAGE_HEADERS is 0 .
To restart the catalog migration you

Hello,
You can install and use media server at the server with the oracle database.
This is something common.
For the licenses you need:

If your environment is not big, you can clear all devices and rerun the

Run the command "nbemmcmd -deletalldevices -machinename .."

This is normal behavior for a VTL.
If you need to free up VTL space you have to write a script that labels the
empty tapes.
You can do that ones a wile by labeling all virtual tapes it the scratch pool

According to Symantec, the fastest way to backup NAS devices is use mount
volumes and run the backup to a deduplication device WITH accelerator
enabled.
If you do not want to use accelerator, then NDMP is the next faster way to
backup NAS.
Unfortunately I haven't try it yet.

Hello,
If the weekly schedule is calendar based AND you had select the "retries

Else, Netbackup the first time will run a Full backup using the daily

I subject you to look for VERITAS storage foundation. It is more robust and it
has proven it, all these years.
If I remember correct, you can install it for free with only one volume group.
If you want you can pay for support.
Ask your Symantec sales.

But ,
I think that you can run differential incrementals and synthesize a
cumulative backup.
Then you can use the full and the latest synthetic cumulative and create a
new synthetic full.
As you do not mix incremental and cumulative backups you are ok

Hello Simon.
The command will not work, unless the database migration is over. In fact,
several commands and function will not work.

if the backup has spanned across multiple tapes, you have to do a phase 1
import to all the tapes first and then start the phase2 import

You may have driver installation problems with Win2k3.
If you run into problems you have to ask a special patch form Microsoft, or
wait for Sp3.

Can you see the media from the GUI (at the media section)?
If no, you have to recreate the voldb. Email me to send you info.
If yes, are you running the commands form a media server?
If yes, run them with the M master_server option or run them form the
master server

No you can't. You can have one backup job per policy per tape per client.
You can have multiple jobs to disk. But again only one backup per policy
(not sure if it is per client also).

I have a remote site that connects with the primary with a 1 Mbps line. Will a

You can't move a unix NBU database to windows (or the opozire) because of the
line feed. I don't know if unix2dos helps.
NBU server for solaris X86 will be suported with NBU 6.5

Upgrade your master server and media servers to 5.x. Put the latest 5.x patch.
Work your installation to see if there is any problem. My opinion is to stay
there.
If you want to upgrade, open a case to veritas to check your database. When
finish upgrade your master server to 6.0MP4. Then your me
