We tried this, and came to the conclusion that it won't work because of the way Exchange and the NetBackup extension for Exchange work together. It's basically required that you use the DNS name for the exchange server to access the database properly to back it up properly. +-

We have a solaris 10 server running 6.5.2a and a number of windows 2003 media servers running 6.5.2a. We have a separate network that we do all of our backup traffic on. The master, media servers, and all clients Are connected to both the public network as well as the backup network. We¹re trying t
