"rw" by owner should be no problem for RMAN backups (I assume you mean on the
oracle dbf files).

How can this permission be determined? Who is responsible for this?

When I took over backups a while back after transfering in, they were
having the same issue and nothing we did worked.
Truthfully, I ended up going in the other direction, taking their
scripts "that should be working" and turning them into cron jobs which
worked flawlessly.
The scripts have since

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of NBU's Oracle agent. The exit
status that you see in the activity monitor is not necessarily the exit
status of your backup. It is the exit status of the SCRIPT that NBU
runs, which kicks off your RMAN backup.
What we did to get around this, was to build o

Hi All,
I find it strange, say a RMAN backup has 3 streams, 2 of them complete and
one of them does not appear et all. The backup would still show up as
complete. The reasons like commn failure e.t.c. are logged in the dbclient.
The RMAN catalog displays backup error but the veritas catalog back
Is the oracle server also a media server? If not, I have seen this due to
Solaris network drivers. Although it is odd that your OS backups run at
100MB/s, I never saw that. Backing up Solaris across a gigabit network I
was never able to exceed 60 MB/s whether it was Oracle or OS data.

I am using netbackup 5.1 with rman for my oracle database backups.OS is

The library is L100
Title: Rman backups no longer working
Hi all
A windows Client/Media server has been running successful rman backups for at least 6 months. It stopped working last night. It doesn't even get to Activity Monitor.
O/S backups work fine.
There are no errors in dbclient. It ends with the con
