Currently running NetBackup 7.1.0.3 and wondering if there is any support
for using SLP's to duplicate VMDK backup images created using
flashbackup-windows
type policies?
If I try to designate an SLP for the Policy Storage in this type of VMDK policy,
I receive an error There is no snapshot

images.

Hi,
Basically, What I have been told by Symantec is that the full synthetic
process was not aware of the SLP and therefore the image was re-created it
was without the SLP information. The good workaround was to use vault
duplication. Indeed that should be now fixed in one of the 7.1 releases. A
process is finished?
Thanks, Kevin

people doing
I am happy to report this was seemingly silently fixed in 7.1 (At least
in 7.1.0.3), the only oddity is that each backup job seems to spawn it's
own SLP duplication job, so you will see hundreds of SLP duplication
jobs queued.
Now can anyone say if SLP and GRT backups are going to work
Hi All,
Environment Linux RHxx NBU 6.5.6.
If I run bpimagelist -stl_complete I get output.
If I run nbstlutil list or stlilist there is no output.
If I run the above with a backupid from the bpimagelist output, still
nothing.
The same applies if I use a client name or a mediaid, nothing.

I have a daily script that check for any incomplete SLP images and sends
backup admins a nastygram. It has not fired yet due to fast opt dupe on out

Hello Geeks,
I am looking for some of the advantages of SLP.
All I think is that we can duplicate data and with diffrent retention
periods?Wat else?

Hello Geeks,

I'm getting very frustrated about having to re-invent the wheel to
reproduce the functionality of Storage Lifecycle Policies for my
Synthetic Full backups.
For those not aware, Synthetic backup images for some dumb reason that
hasn't been explained to me cannot be managed by an SLP and you will
- So what I understand you are doing is using the SLP to get around the
boundaries of tape pools being assigned to a given media, this way all the data
gets backed up by a pool of all of the tapes as one group?

I'm starting to mess around myself. I've not made any changes to the default
parameters for the LIFECYCLE_PARAMETERS. Here's the defaults as defined in the

MAX_KB_SIZE_PER_DUPLICATION_JOB=25600
MAX_MINUTES_TIL_FORCE_SMALL_DUPLICATION_JOB 30

So I'm messing around with SLP's and want to make sure the behavior I'm
seeing is expected. Basically what I see is that every SLP relocation
is broken out with one client per job. With DSSU relocation you can set
the STAGING_JOB_KB_LIMIT and it will group all of the clients into
larger jobs not

When running Storage Life Cycle Policies, jobs queue up for duplication.
When the duplication jobs run, it first allocates a tape drive, then searches
for a tape. If either the source or destination tape it needs is already in
use, the duplication job sits there queued, waiting for the tape.
