I have a Sun server which has 12 luns from a Clariion array presented to it. I created Vx volumes on the PowerPath devices.
Then I zoned in 9 more luns from a 2nd Clariion array. Solaris sees the devices, PowerPath has created the emcpower devices and VxVM sees the emcpower devices. But I can't initialize the disks. If I run vxdisksetup, it returns immediately without having done anything. vxdisk list still shows: ------------- DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS emcpower13s2 auto:none - - online invalid ------------- Details show: ------------- Device: emcpower13s2 devicetag: emcpower13 type: auto info: format=none flags: online ready private autoconfig invalid pubpaths: block=/dev/vx/dmp/emcpower13s2 char=/dev/vx/rdmp/emcpower13s2 guid: - udid: DGC%5FRAID%205%5FAPM00083500896%5F60060160E710220019C43747839CDD11 site: - Multipathing information: numpaths: 1 emcpower13c state=enabled ------------- The disk is enabled, but invalid. If I use vxdiskadm and try to add the disk and create a new dg I get: ------------- VxVM NOTICE V-5-2-120 Creating a new disk group named bakst168159dg containing the disk device emcpower13 with the name bakd5. VxVM ERROR V-5-2-121 Creating disk group bakst168159dg with disk device emcpower13 failed. VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-585 Disk group bakst168159dg: cannot create: Disk private region contents are invalid ------------ I have labeled the disk via format. I have gone through and deleted disk.info and re-run vxconfigd. I still can't pull these disk into VxVM control. Any suggestions? Environment: Sun T5220 server, Emulex LPe120000 HBA's, Solaris 10 8/07 (with patches), Storage Foundation 5.0 MP1, VxVM MP1RP5, EMC PowerPath 5.2.1.
