I like it for its flash on some, not all, flies. However, it looses much of
that flash in the water and some reports I've read say that the UV changes
in the water at deeper depths so it is no different than any other dubbing.
Not being the expert that Don is, I find it a bit more difficult to dub

What's the advantage of not using a wire rib? I always thought the wire rib
served two purposes, a little flash and secondly it add reinforcement to the
dubbing.

When I was in New Zealand, I picked up some pelt scraps from a store. Some
nice person brought the Australian Possums to NZ and with no preditors they
have grown uncontrolled. Their pelt is very soft and the dubbing is nice to
work with. I am sure you can find someone down there who sells it rat
