Tony, aren't there a lot of big grandaddy Cypress growing along the edge of the rivers / creeks. They're all over the place here in central texas. I wouldsuppose you'd also have a lot of Black Gum, Water Tupelo, Swamp Cyrilla, Bay and other water loving species.

No, not so much the trees along the riverbanks but the trees that one sees from
the highway and byways that were probably damaged in the ice storm a few years
back. I would describe them as stark (severe or bare in appearance) and
knarled (rugged and knotted). I found them very interesting.
