Curious what people on the list think about this: I'm especially talking to people like Tim Street, who has always done well with Revver's service-- how do you supplement the income that may disappear? I know you keep abreast of all the analogous

So time to think about backup plans. I for one am ready to pay extra for file back up services. I am not on Revver, but I am on blip, and will follow up with Mike if he doesn't chime in on this thread. We backup all our original digital media, and have backup in place on the servers we manage for

Hello Rox, Of course we provide the original files and make them available for download. But what kind of backup service did you have in mind? Roxanne Darling wrote: > So time to think about backup plans. I for one am ready to pay extra for > file back up services. I am not on Revver, but I a

Hey Charles, I don't know what Rox wants, but maybe Blip.tv offering (to mail) DVD backups of their videos might be a service people are willing to pay for. See ya -- Charles Iliya Krempeaux, B.Sc. http://ChangeLog.ca/ Motorsport Videos http://TireBiterZ.com/ Vlog Razor... Vlogging News.

why not just download all your videos that are on blip and toss them on a HDD and/or DVDs? if you are in the habit of downloading your own feed, you should be good to go. i dont think it would be a viable business for blip to send you drives and discs. sull On Feb 6, 2008 6:11 PM, Roxanne Darling

I am certainly not talking about backups to any sort of DVD-type external media performed by the hosting company. And yes, we have the ability to subscribe and/or download. What I am bringing up for discussion is in the genre of contingency planning. And because we as a business have managed serv

I would never trust an outside company to be responsible for my backups. Or even storage. It is looking, in fact, like I just lost the negative to a feature I made due to trusting the "complimentary vaulting" service of a lab. Web companies are an even more unstable venue. I don't always have the

Great idea Jay. We actually use S3 for other business backups; I have just gone brain dead on the Beach Walks video files. It's not like me to be chicken little, and really, the much bigger problem would be all the broken links if we had to recreate our back catalog on a different server. Thanks
