A professor here has requested a DVD copy of the video, “Breaking the History of Silence,” to show in class this fall. This title is available (exclusively, it seems) through Video Juku, a women's rights organization in Japan. We own a VHS copy and Video Juku's website only lists VHS for this title. www.jca.apc.org/video-juku/index-eng.html I've tried emailing Video Juku---asking if they have a DVD we could purchase or, alternatively, seeking permission to create a DVD version from our VHS copy, but receive no response. Does anyone on the list have experience with Video Juku or advice as to how we might proceed in this matter, especially regarding Japan/US copyright that might apply? VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
