Can't set directory path for Notes plugin

I installed the Notes plugin by Hari Krishna in gvim on Windows Vista 64, but I can't set the path to the directory for storing the notes. I've created directories named notes in several locations, but no matter what path I try in my _gvimrc, I get this error on reopening Gvim: Notes: Configured
