I will explain more carefully what I am attempting to do. The iMac works
just fine, it always has. I'm the original owner with all the original
boxes and CDs. I am trying to use 8.6 for compatibility reasons.
Specifically, F/A-18 Hornet 2.0 will NOT work under OS 9, and I would have

Honestly, if you have a modern mac, it might be easier to run your desired O/S
on an emulator, specifically Basilisk II. It's a little fiddly to set it up,
but once that's done, it works great. Good luck.
