The couple that I have done, I have used the smaller MLCC capacitors.
They are a bit more expensive, but should last much longer than
electrolytic. As a bonus, I find them much easier to solder since most of
the pad is still sticking out to touch with your soldering iron. They
also don't have a

a Mac compatible floppy drive from the factory so it's super useful to do
floppy discs. I'm still saving up for a SCSI>SD kit

I'll have a modified "666av" up and running here this winter. The 666
designation is due to my intent to bump the RAM and VRAM beyond what it was
capable of at the time by hot-air de/resoldering, plus bumping it to a 40
mhz 68040 overclocked to 45 if possible.

Anyone have a good source of replacement electrolytic surface mount caps? I
don't want to always replace with radial or axial mount ones...but the
surface mount seem hard to find.

Our 3rd family computer was a Quadra 660AV. Great machine, we used it for
years. It actually was replaced by a TAM on my dad's desk. A few times, we
attached our home camcorder via S-Video to record short flicks. Really cool
for the time!
