I have several voice record files from Mac OS 7.0 and want to convert them to a
form that Mac os x can recognize or change them to mp3. I have downloaded
ResEdit which is supposed to make this possible. Does anyone know how to use
ResEdit for this purpose?

The first issue is locating the data. The data might be in a
resource as opposed to the data fork. You can determine this with
ResEdit.

ResEdit on a Classic Mac OS should be able to get the audio data out of the
resource fork.
File Juicer can do it too, creating a Quick Time version, but it's not freewar
Tried SoundEdit (OS 9)? Also, try The Analogue Ripper (-> Ian Mann).
