FWB Jackhammer SCSI card questions

Hi all, I just installed a Jackhammer SCSI card (with version 3.2 control panel) and connected the internal 50pin hard drive to it. It boots OK with the internal drive but whenever I try to connect an external device I get a sad Mac. Is this normal or have I not installed something

I had a IIci that died because the tracks were eaten away on the logicboard. Is is possible to repair the tracks if they've already been damaged? What electronics skill level would it need? I don't have the IIci anymore, but i'd like to know still. :) Dan -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by
