Mac IIci & Daystar Accelerator Comments

2002-10-06 Thread Shane J. Wolfe
Does anyone else out there possess a IIci with the Daystar Turbo601 accelerator? I picked up one of these on eBay and must say it is impressive, even for being a 66mhz upgrade. My IIci is packed full of ram at 128MB, and along with the Daystar card, it really screams for a machine built in the l

I must say that I love your signature! I do agree with you on the Zire. Pure junk. They are trying to hit the younger people in the market with the low price. The Handspring Visor, while not being made anymore, is still a much better buy, even with Palm OS 3.1. You can find new ones for 50$ o

That is one thing I don't like about the Handspring. Later versions of the Visor do have newer versions of the OS, but still lack the ability to flash upgrade the unit. You can pick up expansion cards for next to nothing. I got a brand new Magellan GPS Companion at Wal-Mart for 25$: down from

I'll have to look at my IIci case when I get to work. I think it flows from the top to the back, so you'll probably want to stick in somewhere in the back, pulling air out, or in the top, pushing air in. -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by and... Small Dog Electronics

Where to obtain older versions of Quicktime (3-5)

2002-10-12 Thread Shane J. Wolfe
I need to get various versions of Quicktime, starting at 3 up to 5.05 for my IIci with a Turbo 601 and system 7.5.5. I've scoured Apple's website and the web, to no avail. Does anyone out there have an idea as to where I can get these versions? I did actually find an installer for Quicktime 4,

Seagate Problems in IIci

2002-10-18 Thread Shane J. Wolfe
I just picked up a Seagate ST32272N SCSI drive for my IIci. Its not an Apple spec'ed drive, but I can format it under HD Setup 7.5.3patched. I have also used Silver lining and Micronet. The IIci can pick it up but it won't boot off of it, even when the drive is the only device on the chain. I d

I have actually just tried this today, and it does work, though, as mentioned in some replies to my previous post on a Seagate drive, the drives must be terminated properly to work. Its possible to cram a second drive inside the IIci, although with my PAS16, RasterOps card, Ethernet card and Turbo

As far as actuall game performance, the 575 is still processing the game, even though it is stored elsewhere. The performance as far as your file access goes will be MUCH slower over appletalk than from a hard drive, so, getting the game open may take a lot longer, but the game SHOULD still run as
